CHOIR-I-OKE sing-a-long! Speed learn a few songs in an hour

17 August @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

From chillout song to 1980’s hits! Party like it’s 1980 and sing and dance with festival friends. You’ll be taught the harmonies for all of the songs or you can learn the parts in advance.
All of the songs have legally published choral arrangements so there are voice parts and sheet music available for purchase if need be.
Songs:
A Little Respect (Erasure),
Letting Go – an original song by me which has a more modal/ meditative vibe about it and is easy to improvise on and can include vocal and body percussion.
Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics)
Love Is In The Air (John Paul Young)

This workshop is about bringing the festival community together to sing in harmony, so the more the merrier! It can feel like a party vibe, encouraging community and being in harmony together and collaboration to participants.

All festival goers are invited to download lyrics to 4 song for a mass sing along to learn and sing in harmony, hence a choir-i-oke as opposed to one voice like in Karaoke.
(Those wishing to purchase sheet music can do so from www.sheetmusicplus.com but everything can be learnt on the day). Those wishing to purchase voice parts can do so from me at: aneesa@aneesachaudhry.com.

Suggestions for harmonies are given but if people want to improvise around the suggestions they can.

There are 4 mics for a few singers to sing SATB harmonies through / improvise.

It’s a pretty high energy workshop.

Book this workshop

We’re thrilled to announce the preliminary bookings for our diverse and inspiring workshop programme at the Hand in Hand Festival! To ensure everyone has a fair chance to attend their desired sessions, we’re kindly asking participants to indicate their first, second, and third choice of workshops.

With a limited number of spaces available, we want to make sure as many of you as possible get the opportunity to join in the creativity and learning. If a workshop proves particularly popular, rest assured we’ll do our best to confirm attendance for at least one of your chosen workshops. Should space allow, you may also be able to attend your second and/or third choices.

To express your interest in attending a workshop, please complete the form on our website at handinhandfestival.org/workshops by 12 July. After this date, we’ll begin the process of confirming workshop spaces.
